MOT Your Game Titleist 4 for 3 2016 - £39.99
Titleist FJ Matchplay Championship - 2016 Callaway Chrome Soft Golf Balls

Shop news

With the US Masters at Augusta Golf Club only a month away, I am sure that like me you are getting excited? We will be running our popular sweepstake on this year's tournament, played between the 7th and 10th April at the famous Augusta National golf course. The sweep costs £3.00 per square and you can buy as many or as little squares as you like.

Each competitors name will be randomly drawn from a hat on Thursday 7th April and each square number allocated in order, i.e first name out of the hat is allocated to square number 1, last out the hat allocated to square 96.

The top four players in the masters will win a shop voucher for the member with their square. The 1st prize is £100, 2nd prize £60, 3rd prize £40 and 4th prize is £25, we will also give a £15 prize for the best score on each day. In the event of a tie for places the monetary value of the prize will be divided between the winners. The sheet is available in the Pro Shop now.

Titleist Pro V1's - 4 for 3

We are offering you the opportunity to purchase three dozen of the brand new Pro V1 or Pro V1X golf balls with free personalisation and you will receive one dozen extra balls free of charge.

A total of £119.97 (includes VAT and delivery) for four dozen balls will set you up for the coming season.

Titleist Golf Ball Offer

We have stock of the 2015 Titleist Velocity, DT and NXT golf balls left which we would like to clear down.

As a result we have reduced the price on each model of ball but you will need to be quick to take advantage.

Motocaddy Ex-Hire Trolleys for sale

Our entire fleet of Motocaddy electric hire trolleys are about to be replaced with brand new models for this year. Therefore, we are looking to sell off our current hire fleet. They are all the Motocaddy S1 trolleys and come complete with a 36 hole lithium battery and the charger.

The trolleys have been used for hire for less than a year and are all in good condition. The cost of this trolley brand new would normally be £499 so our price of just £300 represents a bargain. Only three available on a first come first served basis.

Free Grip?

Don't miss your opportunity for a free 7 iron grip from Golf Pride with the re-gripping promotion currently in store. We are into the last few free grips available so don't delay come in and see us.

You have a huge choice of grips and obviously the idea is that you'll see how good a new grip feels and realise that yours have been needing replacing for a while - you never quite appreciate how worn grips have gone until you replace them.

Captains Drive In

Saturday morning saw newly appointed Men's, Ladies, Seniors and Junior Captains' Roger Samples, Sue Wood, Alan Pinder and Dylan Ellis take to the 1st tee for the annual captains' drive-in.

I was very fearful that a covering of snow would ruin the event. This was because I was rudely woken at 3am by Clarissa's car alarm going off and had a look out my bedroom window to see a good inch of snow covering the ground.

As I live only a few miles away from the club I couldn't think it would be any different there but surprisingly, as I descended the hill towards the golf club just after 7am the snow had cleared and all was fine!

I am sure that this was also a great relief for Sue Wood as she had arranged for a traditional Scottish theme to the drive-in which was complete with the Gloucestershire Golf Union Secretary James MacPherson playing the bagpipes!

After a few wee drams to relieve any last minute nerves, and with 80 odd fellow members cheering them on, they each faced the pressure of an expectant crowd and struck their tee shot up the 1st hole.

All four of them managed to get the balls successfully off the end of the 1st tee this year (Neil Rimmer) and a good way up the hole without any major incidents.

Bob Newton kindly made this 'You Tube' video which will show you how they got on. Please click on the video image to view or alternatively click here

I also accompanied them in the 'driving in' ceremony. We asked members to contribute £1 for guessing the length of mine and Neil's drives to win a prize from each of us. James Margetts was the closest guess for Roger's drive and Andy Parker got mine spot on!

The competition which followed the drive-in was the first qualifying competition of the season and competitors were faced with their first challenge as they were made to play off the white and red tees after a period through the winter of playing a shortened course. The stableford format did help players but as mention earlier the cold and wintery conditions made for a tough days scoring.

Mark Salf headed the field with an excellent 35 points and he just pipped Will Mustoe into 2nd place on a count back. Four players were just one shot further back on 34 points, Wayne Rose, Kate Thurlow, Norma Shepherd and Paul Burnett.

A Plea from Mike Thurlow

My name is Mike Thurlow, for those of you that do not know me, I have been a member at Naunton Downs since the age of 10 (now 25 years old).

On Sunday 27th March (Easter Sunday), I will be doing a 'Golfathon' here at Naunton Downs Golf Club to raise money for Breast Cancer Care. This is where I will be playing golf continuously from sunrise until sunset (just over 12 hours roughly). My target is to complete a minimum of 4 rounds, during this time I will have played at least 72 holes, walked a minimum of 15 miles and hit over 340 golf shots.

With a number of brilliant causes to choose from, I have gone with Breast Cancer Care, the official Charity of the Football Association and a group that the National Game Youth Council are keen to support.

They do some brilliant work in raising awareness, patient support and treatment and I know that the money raised will be used in the same brilliant way.

If you happen to be out on the course that day, I would really appreciate it if you wouldn't mind calling me through when you can, this will certainly help me get as many holes played as possible!

Please support me by donating on my JustGiving page, all contributions small or big will be gratefully appreciated!

Golf Care

Picture this…

Your ball bouncing through the club car park, causing significant damage! Cars can be easily repaired at a price, but the situation could be a whole lot worse if you strike a fellow golfer, or passer-by. We want our members to be covered against such perils – and there are many more, such as theft and loss of golf club subscription - so speak to us about getting covered with Golf Care.
